Residential Lawn Treatment in Northeast Ohio

Your home is your biggest investment, and a healthy lawn is the first thing people see. Our residential treatment programs are designed for Ohio homeowners who want a thick, green lawn without the guesswork of doing it themselves.

Why Residential Lawns Need a Different Approach

Your residential lawn is not a golf course, a commercial property, or a public park. It is a living space where your kids play, your dog runs, your family gathers, and your neighbors form their first impression of your home. The treatment program it needs should reflect how you actually use your yard — not a one-size-fits-all schedule borrowed from a commercial account.

Field of Dreams Lawn Care has focused exclusively on residential properties since Allen Oriti founded the company in 1997. We do not service commercial accounts or maintain industrial properties. Every customer in our system is a homeowner, and every treatment protocol we use is designed for the way residential lawns are used and maintained in Northeast Ohio.

That focus matters because residential lawns face challenges that commercial properties do not. Foot traffic from kids and pets, shade from mature neighborhood trees, drainage issues in older developments, dog spots, varying mowing habits between neighbors — these are residential realities that require adjustments to product selection, application rates, and treatment timing. Our technicians see these conditions every day across the 50+ communities we service.

What Our Residential Lawn Treatment Program Includes

Every residential customer receives a core treatment program with optional add-on services based on their property's specific needs.

7-Step Fertilization

Seven seasonal applications of professional-grade, timed-release fertilizer from early spring through late fall winterizer. Each application is calibrated for Northeast Ohio's growing season and uses products not available at retail stores. Our fertilization program provides consistent nutrition all season without the growth surges and fade-offs of store-bought products.

Weed Control

Pre-emergent crabgrass prevention and post-emergent broadleaf weed treatment included with every fertilizer visit. We target dandelion, clover, ground ivy, chickweed, nutsedge, spurge, and the dozens of other weeds that invade Ohio lawns. Our weed control approach combines blanket applications with spot treatments for persistent problem areas.

Free Service Calls

Noticed weeds popping up between scheduled visits? Concerned about a new brown spot? Active residential customers receive free service calls at no additional charge. If something does not look right, call us and we will come back to inspect and treat as needed. This is included in your program — there is no extra fee for callbacks.

Core Aeration & Overseeding

Annual core aeration breaks through compacted Ohio clay soil to improve root growth, water infiltration, and nutrient absorption. Combined with overseeding, aeration is how thin, struggling lawns transform into thick, dense turf that crowds out weeds naturally and resists drought stress during hot summers.

Grub Prevention

Preventative grub control protects your lawn from the Japanese beetle larvae that devastate untreated residential lawns every fall across the Cleveland area. One application in early summer prevents the brown patches, spongy turf, and animal digging that grub infestations cause.

Pest & Perimeter Protection

Optional mosquito control and foundation insect control extend your treatment program beyond the lawn to protect your family's outdoor living spaces. Barrier sprays reduce mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas, while perimeter treatments stop ants, spiders, and other crawling insects from entering your home.

A Residential Lawn Care Company That Treats Your Yard Like Our Own

Field of Dreams is a family business. Allen Oriti founded this company nearly three decades ago, and his family still runs every aspect of the operation — from route management to customer service to the products we select. Our own families live in the same communities we service, and our kids play on the same types of lawns we treat every day.

That family perspective shapes how we operate. We do not rush through properties to hit a corporate production quota. Our technicians are trained to inspect each lawn, note changes in condition from the previous visit, and adjust treatment as needed. If we see a drainage issue, a new shade pattern from a growing tree, or early signs of disease, we bring it to your attention and recommend a solution — even if it does not involve our services.

We also offer military discounts, a pre-pay discount for annual programs, and a $10 new customer referral check — because we believe loyalty should go both ways. When you choose Field of Dreams for your residential lawn treatment, you are not getting a franchise. You are getting a neighbor who has been earning the trust of Northeast Ohio homeowners since 1997.

Residential Lawn Treatment FAQ

Most residential properties in our service area pay between $40 and $65 per application for the core fertilization and weed control program. The total annual cost depends on how many add-on services you select — grub prevention, mosquito control, lime treatment, aeration, and foundation pest control are each priced separately. Pre-pay discounts reduce the annual total, and our $10 referral check rewards you for recommending us to neighbors. Call 216-328-0551 for a free, no-obligation estimate based on your specific property size and needs.

Absolutely. You can start our program at any point during the growing season. We will assess your lawn's current condition and begin with the treatment that is most appropriate for the time of year. Starting mid-season means you may miss early-season applications like pre-emergent crabgrass control, but we will adjust the remaining treatments to make the most of the time remaining and set your lawn up for a strong following year. Many of our customers start in late spring or summer after realizing their DIY approach is not delivering the results they want.

We treat hundreds of residential lawns that have dogs. The products we use are safe for pets once they have dried — typically 30 to 60 minutes after application. For granular products, we recommend keeping pets off the lawn until after the first rainfall or watering. We understand that dog spots and high-traffic pet areas create unique challenges, and our technicians account for these areas when developing your treatment plan. If your dog has a favorite running path or a spot where they always do their business, let us know and we will factor that into our approach.
